Keep Your Pets Safe This July 4th! The Fourth of July is one of our favorite holidays here in New Braunfels. The food, the fireworks, the friends and family—it’s hard to beat. But while we’re celebrating, our furry friends often feel scared and stressed.
Loud booms and bright flashes can spook even the calmest pets. The good news? A little planning keeps them safe and comfortable.
Here are a few simple tips to help your pets through the holiday:
- Ease fireworks anxiety. Create a cozy, quiet space indoors. Turn on a fan, TV, or soft music to muffle the loud noises.
- Keep pets inside. Bring everyone indoors before the fireworks start. Scared animals can bolt and run off in seconds.
- Check those ID tags. Make sure collars, tags, and microchip info are up to date. If your pet does get loose, this helps them find their way home.
- Skip the harmful foods. Keep your pets away from chocolate, onions, grapes, and anything with bones. Stick to their regular food.
- Watch the summer heat. Texas summers get hot fast. Always offer plenty of fresh, cool water and shade.
A safe pet makes for a happy holiday for everyone.
