Homeowner Maintenance of Septic Systems Courses

Dear Partnership member,

The Geronimo and Alligator Creeks Watershed Partnership is offering the Homeowner Maintenance of Septic Systems Courses on November 10 from 6pm to 8pm, and on November 11 from 8:30am to 3:30pm.  Both courses will be held at the GBRA River Annex, 905 Nolan Street, in Seguin (see attached brochure).  Ryan Gerlich, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Program Specialist, will be the course instructor.

Two different courses are offered–a 2-hour general course and a 6-hour course focusing on aerobic systems.  The 2 hour course provides a basic understanding of the operational and maintenance activities of conventional and aerobic septic systems, and explains how activities within the home impact septic systems. Presentations will cover the treatment processes, health and safety considerations, and an overview of how to inspect and maintain the system.  This course also provides answers to the most frequently asked septic system questions, including when to pump out a tank and what can or cannot go down the drain.

The 6-hour course covers the same material as the 2-hour class, but goes more in depth on aerobic systems and their operation and maintenance.  This class will provide homeowners in Guadalupe County with the certification to maintain their own systems.

Seating is limited and the courses are free.  However, due to the limited seating, registration is required.  Contact me by phone or email to register for either class.  If you can’t make either of these classes, our plan is to offer them again in the fall.

Thanks,

Ward
